The o-ring on each link maintains the lubricant inside the chain pivot while preventing the entry of dust and dirt. Contrary to popular belief, O-ring chains do not generate power loss with more friction, the product is specifically designed to achieve a drive as free as  a chain without O-ring when it reaches its nominal operating temperature.
